Scattering the seeds
Inspiration from a seasoned gardener
April 2:
Calgary’s a beautiful city with a short growing season. Conventional gardening wisdom says to not plant your annuals until the third week of May, lest they perish to frost.
Last weekend, when a foul-smelling rabbit repellent wafted in through the open window, my brother-in-law confessed to having started his garden early. “Everyone says wait til the May long weekend,” there was a tone of defiance in his voice, “but I plant some things before.”
The truth is no one knows what the weather will do and NO ONE REALLY KNOWS WHAT MAKES A BOOK SELL.
Have fun scattering your seeds, my friends.
Here’s hoping for the perfect balance of sunshine and rain,
Jessica
