Jan 2: Happy New Year!
Adding to the mountain of email facing whoever’s back to work today may not have been my most inspired move, <also, *smile* thanks for opening this email!> However, in reviewing my typeset manuscript, I noticed that a cluster of local independent businesses appears in my story.
Today, I emailed to ask if they’d be interested in a small-scale cross-promotion. If they say yes, I may use specific names for the cupcake shop, coffee shop and hair salon in the final edition of the book. This is not about product placement per se, it’s more about authentically including the community where I live, and hoping my little neighbourhood shopping centre will rally around the book.
If this idea gets any traction, I’ll let you know how it plays out.
